The Best Way To Develop Green Energy Fuel Sources Green energy fuel sources are becoming increasingly important to our survival. We only have a limited amount of traditional fossil based fuels left to burn, and even burning what we have is creating serious problems. While there may be a degree of controversy concerning global warming, with experts failing to agree on exactly how severe the damage may be, there is no doubt that there is a significant negative effect from burning carbon dioxide emitting fuel. In the long term, we as a race have the definite potential to develop a far greater future through the use of clean renewable alternative fuel energy. There is more than enough capacity for energy production using the abundant resources of the planet we live on. Solar power alone has the potential to provide the whole of the human race with more than enough energy. At the moment, the expense involved in the production of solar power makes it impractical for so many of the world's population, but the technology is improving constantly. Solar photovoltaic technology is already being applied in places where there is an abundance of sunlight, and where there are the high tech and well funded companies who can carry out this important development work. These are the key players in the quest to develop solar power as a sustainable worldwide phenomenon, with the small scale test operations being scaled up for commercial use in large areas of the world. Clearly, it will need international cooperation to achieve the results we need. Some of the best areas for the location of solar energy plants are in impoverished Africa, so it will need multi-country development for the project to succeed. The greatest potential lies in combining solar power with other sources of alternative fuel energy, especially wind power. In a country such as the United Kingdom, for example, there is not really the land space or the climate to make a future entirely dependent upon solar power practical. What Britain does have, however, is enough offshore wind capacity to provide at least three times the amount of electricity the country needs. A sustainable future can be created by combining the best renewable technologies, and using them in the most suitable regions. We also have available to us a wonderful storage system for energy in the form of hydrogen. Hydrogen can store energy so that it available for use whenever it is needed. This is what we need to overcome the inevitable difficulty of renewable sources being inconsistent and unreliable. At times of low sunlight, or of calm seas, energy production will be less than at other times. This has often been cited as an inherent flaw of renewable technologies, yet hydrogen solves the problem completely. By combining solar to hydrogen and wind to hydrogen technologies, we can create a sustainable future based on green energy fuel.
